At this point, you should have chosen your Small-and-Easy action towards sustainable living (SL). By choosing one, it’s like putting oil onto the machine. It makes the rest so much easier.
I’ve been applying gradual changes to my (and others’) life long enough and have seen the difference this makes.
So, if you haven’t found a Small-and-Easy action towards SL yet, please do so before you continue.

STEP 1: Find your obstacles
Great… now identify what will stop you from doing the action.
Knowing this is important to help you build a new habit towards SL.
Here’s an example from our family:
During weekends out, we may buy a cup of fruit smoothie or iced chocolate. To avoid using single-use paper or plastic cup, we wanted to bring our own bottle.
The first few times, I forgot. Arrgh…
Or I brought my 400ml water bottle, which is too small. (Our regular drink is 500ml.) Arrgh again…
So my obstacles were:
– not knowing the capacity of my drink
– forgetting to bring a reusable bottle
STEP 2: Place it there
After noting my obstacles, I eliminated them by:
– checking the capacity of the drink
– putting the correct size bottle on the kitchen table top, in advance
This way, every time I leave the house, I’ll put the bottle into my bag.
The above can be done for almost any Small-and-Easy action you’ve chosen. Such as:
– put the reusable grocery bag near the door, or
– put a stack of cloth wipes (to replace tissue paper) in the kitchen, or
– put an empty food container in the bag

IMPLEMENTATION
Use a couple of minutes with this task for your Small-and-Easy SL action:
1. Find your obstacles
2. Place it there (every day)
