Our family was at The 12th Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival held at Publika Shopping Gallery, with various organizations supporting sustainable development, so the children learnt a lot too.
We only made necessary purchases:
- 2 bars of body soap
- a blanket handmade by a local seamstress (The Lollipop House), since El (6 years old) has outgrown his baby blanket
- a glass jar of local honey
- a children’s book on how to avoid using plastic (Kids Fight Plastic)
- donation to Greenpeace Malaysia
We also said ‘no’ to paper bags because they may take more than four times the energy to make single-use plastic bags.
Then we visited Me.reka makerspace (also at Publika) and learnt more about their plastic and other materials recycling initiatives. Finally found the ideal place to send our recyclable waste!
Step by step towards educating the children and minimizing any negative impact we have on the environment.
Small change. Big difference. Have a great day!
